A History of Hospitality
Our Story

Take a Look Back at 7 Central

Today known as 7 Central Provincetown, the property has operated as a guesthouse for more than half a century and has become part of the fabric of Provincetown’s modern hospitality scene. The building’s history, however, stretches much further back. Like Provincetown itself, 7 Central Street has continually evolved while maintaining its welcoming spirit. Across decades of ownership and reinvention, it has served generations of travelers drawn to the Outer Cape’s creativity, openness, and coastal beauty — standing as both a historic property and an enduring part of Provincetown’s living story.

Historical records indicate that the property was owned by Mary A. Cabral beginning in 1929.

By the mid-1950s, Cabral was already operating the home, at least in part, as a guesthouse — an early example of the intimate lodging culture that would eventually become synonymous with Provincetown.

In 1976, the property was purchased by Jane Antolini, a well-known Provincetown figure who later served on the town’s Board of Selectmen during the 1990s. Under Antolini’s ownership, the inn became known as Lady Jane’s Inn, helping establish 7 Central as a welcoming and recognizable lodging destination during a period when Provincetown was rapidly growing into an internationally known arts and LGBTQ+ travel community.

Antolini further expanded the property in 1986 with the addition of a large guest wing containing ten private rooms with ensuite baths — a major modernization that transformed the property into a more contemporary inn while preserving its neighborhood character.

In 2000, the inn entered a new chapter when it reopened as The Carriage House, operating a 13-room boutique guesthouse that blended Provincetown charm with updated amenities and design sensibilities.

The property became The Inn at 7 Central in 2014, when new owners acquired and reimagined the inn with a fresh, contemporary style while continuing its long-standing tradition of independent hospitality. Since then, the inn has remained a destination for visitors seeking a quieter retreat within walking distance of Provincetown’s beaches, galleries, restaurants, nightlife, and harborfront energy.
